On Wednesday, October 29, a group of students and staff met at the Mat-Su Food Bank. In assembly line fashion, they filled over 130 "Dragon Dinner" boxes. These boxes contain staples such as pasta, oatmeal, rice, and more. The boxes are distributed on the Mat-Su College campus – free of charge, and without restriction – as part of a plan to alleviate hunger among the campus community.

Before they finished their day's work, the volunteers filled over 130 food boxes.

According to the UAA Hunger and Homelessness support network, over 44% of UAA students have experienced food insecurity.

Students who could benefit from a "Dragon Dinner" food box can pick one up from the Student Government Office (JKB 114), the Campus Cache store (JKB 109), and from various carts situated about campus. Students can also go to a food bank and show their student ID card.

To volunteer to fill the next round of boxes, or to learn more, stop by the Student Government Council office in JKB 114 (right next to the cafeteria).

The "Dragon Dinner" boxes are sponsored by the Mat-Su College Student Government, the Mat-Su Health Foundation, and the Mat-Su Food Bank.
